Physical key management has always been a factor for businesses that deal with keys, yet the process of managing them is often overlooked and time-consuming. It doesn’t have to be.
That’s where intelligent key cabinets come in. They offer a range of advantages over conventional methods of key management. These cabinets are designed to simplify key inventory, reduce the risk of lost or stolen keys, and improve overall security. Unlike manual key systems that rely on labor-intensive tracking and record-keeping, intelligent key cabinets log every key in and out automatically.
A complete key management and storage solution, the Medeco Intelligent Key Cabinet (IKC) keeps a record of key removals and returns. It records who takes keys out and when, and it records when the keys are returned, so there are no lost keys or questions about who has them.
Users open the cabinet with physical, biometric, or PIN credentials. Not only does the IKC increase visibility into who holds which keys and reduce the risk of misplaced keys, it improves employee accountability and lowers operating costs for facility managers.
Some benefits of Medeco’s Intelligent Key Cabinets:
- Real-time record keeping: administrators and facility managers get an instant overview of who has which keys and when, without manual key hand-offs and inventory sheets.
- Higher security: constructed of heavy-duty materials and equipped with locking mechanisms that ensure only authorized users can access the keys. The system also generates alerts on unauthorized access attempts.
- Configured for your organization: different cabinet sizes, key capacities, and user options mean you can build a key management system that fits your facility.
- Scalability: with flexible configurations, your key cabinet setup can grow with your organization.
